City of Greater Geelong – Enterprise bargaining kicks off

09 May 2024

The ASU bargaining team met with management on Tuesday 7 May to commence bargaining discussions for the next enterprise agreement and outline our log of claims.

The ASU is represented by your ASU lead organiser Zoe Edwards and organiser David Frappa alongside your delegates Kristy Meikle, Jani Chalmers, Victoria Stone-Meadows, Pat Hancocks, Miria Fraser, Paul Szerwinski, Shane Thompson. Other unions were also represented at the bargaining table.

The ASU has strongly advocated for a 2-year agreement that provides a fair pay increase of 5% per annum or $62 per week in the first year and $66 in year two, (whichever is greater). Discussions around important claims such as protecting work-from-home rights, employment security, leave entitlements, allowances and health and wellbeing along with many others were put forward by the ASU and delegates.

Management has not put a list of claims forward but indicated they wish to prioritise 'diversity and inclusion' in this EA and address some issues in the leisure services area. More details to come, and the ASU will scrutinise these claims and as always, fight for our members' interests in these discussions.

What’s next?
The next meeting of the bargaining committee is Tuesday 21 May. The ASU will continue to push for our wage claim and conditions improvements. We will continue to work through any proposals from management and discuss our detailed ASU claims. We will keep you updated on the progress of this work.

We’re stronger together. Ask a co-worker to join the ASU to get a better deal on your enterprise agreement. It’s easy to join at https://www.asuvictas.com.au/VICTAS/Join
