Ararat Rural City Council legal application lodged!

02 July 2024

The ASU has today lodged an application for authorisation for a multi-enterprise agreement to cover Ararat Rural City Council and Central Goldfields Shire Council. This application is the first of its kind in Victorian local government.

Following endorsement at ASU members meetings earlier this year, to pursue a multi-enterprise agreement at Ararat and Central Goldfields, the ASU has been working on a legal application for a multi-enterprise agreement to cover both councils.

The existing Ararat Rural City Council agreement has now expired and the ASU is therefore eligible to seek an authorisation for a multi-enterprise agreement. We expect this matter to be listed in the coming weeks.

What does this mean for bargaining?

The ASU is ready to commence bargaining as soon as we secure an authorisation from the Fair Work Commission.

We have an endorsed log of claims that has been developed at member meetings and with delegates. Upon authorisation, we will commence bargaining as soon as possible.

For more information, please contact your ASU delegate or ASU organiser Billy King. For member assistance please contact the Member Contact Centre on 1300 855 570. The ASU is by your side. Talk to a co-worker about the importance of union membership and ask them to join the ASU at https://www.asuvictas.com.au/VICTAS/Join
